I. There is a problem in society today. That problem is the citizens of this countrie's tax money is being wasted on people that do not deserve welfare. This country is way to in debt to be giving money out so freely. People have grown accustomed to recieving free money. They should work for their money instead of sitting backing and collecting their welfare checks. No longer should people feel entitled to free money just because they are poor. Money is being taken away from people that actually need it such as single mothers/fathers, people with mental and/or physical disabilities and war veterans. It is also is taking away from public institutions such as parks, schools and many more government funded projects. Another thing is that if people are caught in the act of welfare fraud. Their prison sentences should be greatly extended. 2-4 years is not enough.

II. Facts that demonstrate that there is a problem are:
People are to dependent on welfare. They would much rather sit back and collect their checks.

Welfare fraud happens everyday. They spend their money on drugs instead of buying necessities for their children and/or themselves. This is stealing from the government and when somebody steals from the government they are stealing from the people that pay their taxes and that is not fair.

Another problem is that the government has really no way to track what people spend when they receive welfare. They could spend it on pretty much anything and the government would have no idea.
